Merle isn't one to be messed with so I thought I'd give it a go. 'Try it she said, it isnt likeother combs' What was all the fuss?
At first I was a little wary of the long, curved plastic comb on the tip of the wand. I'm a brush kind of a bloke when it comes to mascaras and this appeared to be too flexible to do anything other than give lashes a gentle push. Unless lashes are naturally long then combs for me just don’t work so I apologise to the creators at Clinique for dismissing this so quickly.
I of course was looking at it from a Make-Up Artists point of view. With all my 'must have mascaras' the first things I look for are brush, bristles and build. I like something that I can rock easily and push onto the lashes as I apply. I don’t like too big a brush but still with enough force to make lashes moves to ensure an even coat. Of course us artists are used to working fast and furious and I thought this curved comb just wouldn’t cut it. How wrong could I have been?
The formulation and fine teeth catch and coat even the shortest of lashes and although it may take some getting used to the results are fantastic. It didn’t clog like other comb mascaras I have tried. Each coat builds and gives the illusion of length. It does take a couple of goes to get used to coating from this curve, especially if you have been a brush or 'straight' comb user in the past. I even tried my this on myself as well as others and be it on long, short, thin and thick lashes looked long and lovely.
Even when I opened it up again and again, there was no residue that usually gathers around the neck of even the best mascaras.
Just goes to show that force isn’t always needed to get the best results.
