Crisp 'n' dry....

...nooooo...I'm not talking about what I deep fry my mars bars in, I'm talking about hair, readers, HAIR!

I've been indulging in a little bit of R 'n' R recently, combining a stay-cation in the UK with learning how to kite surf. All that sun, sea, sweat and salt has been playing havoc with my skin, and my friend's blonde highlights now resemble a patch of astro turf on her head. So not a good look in one's Billabong.

So while I relaxed with a face mask and a nice hot bath, my friend decided to do something about the state of her mop of sun bleached hair. I suggested the amazing Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment. Now you may not have heard of Ojon, but with a recent multi million dollar takeover by a major player in the cosmetics industry, you will soon. Ojon is the name of a tropical tree, native to the Mosquitia region of Central America. The oil is extracted from the nuts from the tree, and has been used for centuries by the 'Tawira' - or 'The People of Beautiful Hair', otherwise known as Miskito Indians. The production of Ojon products, and the worldwide distribution, has helped to sustain one of the world's most valuable natural and cultural treasures.

But with hair like a Brillo pad, the last thing my friend wanted to hear was the history of the Ojon tree. So armed with a tub of the Restorative Hair Treatment, she followed the very simple instructions: scoop some into your hand, melt it between your palms, and distribute between dry hair until saturated. Now if your hair is slightly dry, you could wait 5 minutes before rinsing out, but as my pal was contemplating a buzz cut by this stage, we decided an overnight treatment was required. So she slipped a shower cap on, went to bed, and let the heat of her head enable the oils to penetrate.

Cut to this morning, and after shampooing and conditioning with her usual products, then blow drying, her hair was INCREDIBLE. I'd even say it was in better condition than it had been before her dip in the sea. Soft, shiny with great volume....just about what everyone wants in a hair product, don't you think? So don't reach for the electric clippers next time your highlights turn into straw, reach for the Ojon.

Ojon products are available from John Lewis, www.qvcuk.com and Libery London. Price from £12 - £39.
