Shiny Happy Hairdos....

Not everyone I know is happy with the early arrival of summer. No. There are some poor folk suffering the sniffles and snots of hayfever, other sensitive souls scratching the scabs of prickly heat and then there's the Frizzies. Aye. You lot. One whiff of heat, humidity or a mere whisper of wind and your hair resembles something usually found in lady gardens and I'm not talking about a climbing clematis here.  Anyway, moving along.....

Sometimes a product that has been around for many a year gets overlooked when it comes to reviewing what is best at tackling a wild crop of hair. But in this instance, the original - for me - is still the best. One friend used to suffer with frizz and kinks to such an extent that she used to wear wigs when we went clubbing cos her hair used to end up like her Aunt Pearl's shag pile carpet after one Dancing Queen too many. Thankfully, the days of her nylon Tawny Titian wig are a distant memory, as she now swears by John Frieda's Frizz Ease Thermal Protection Hair Serum. She uses 2 pumps on wet hair, distributed evenly throughout the ends and mid lengths, then blow dries. The result? Hair that is more Bond Street than Bennets. £5.79 from Boots.

It's fair to say I know a fair amount of kinky people. It's all part of life's rich tapestry, my dears. Some of the kinkiest among them have RAVED about Frederic Fekkai's Glossing Cream with Pure Olive Oil to tame their wild ways - for hair, readers, FOR HAIR!!  For super-strength frizz fighting, apply a small amount to damp hair before blow drying for sleeker hair, but my tester used this as a finishing product once she'd finished her big bouncy bouffant. For someone with shoulder length hair, I'd recommend starting with a pea sized amount of this cream, warmed between your hands, then applied to the areas your hair needs a little TLC. Apply more if you need to, but don't overdo it - one traumatic oil spill in this world is enough, mon cheri. My over processed, kinky, heat styled, luxe loving friend has had a tube of this for 9 months as a little goes a very long way. At £17.00 from Space NK, it's not the cheapest product, but it's definitely up there as one of the best at getting to grips with difficult coiffures.
