The Gentry Grooming Co

Well they say there is a first time for everything and yesterday saw me having my first proper 'barbers shave'. As a beauty writer, make-up artist and blogger I would say I was pretty clued up on all things cosmetic. Male and Female, I have tried most types of treatments but this was a first for me.

I visited The Gentry Grooming Co, which has recently launched in House of Fraser,Glasgow where John my Barber was waiting with his 'cut throat razor'. The range itself was new to me and they have an good range of male specific 'cutting' edge products and fab formulations. I liked that fact that their went too many, which sometimes can leave blokes a little bamboozled and I was keen to have a go. Treatments usually happen in the privacy of the grooming room behind the counter but as this was a new launch the barbers chair was on the shop floor. Not that it mattered to me. Shy isn't a word I'd use to describe myself and it was amazing at just how many men stopped to make an enquiry.

The brand is the brainchild of former Apprentice star Adele Lock who after a stint on Lord Sugar's show set up her company in 2005 which has since gone from strength to strength. Adele says "we have taken a traditional approach to a contemporary market'' and with 97% of men admitting that the dislike shaving and find it a chore that market is clearly huge. Me included!

My shave was  lot more involved than I imagined too. This really was what I would call 'the works'. Cleanse, scrub lather, shave massage, moisturise, hot towels. You name it. I had it. The end result was not only glowing, super soft skin but undoubtedly the closest shave I have ever had. So much so I didn't even need to shave this morning.

As well as being impressed with their products and professional shaves it's clear the company are committed to their customer too. I enjoyed reading through the website and online magazine. Informative and packed with hints and tips for the perfect shave. I am also hooked on their Shave Cream too.

With gift sets and vouchers available this is the perfect gift and lets be honest in every man their is 'groom for improvement'.

The Express Traditional Wet Shave is £18.50 for 25 mins.

  1. Wife arranged for me to visit - never done it before - well worth the experience though and likely to go again.
