I received a bumper bag of goodies from Clinique last week, to announce the launch of their new Fall (that's American for 'Autumn', fact fans) Colour Collection. I've always loved Clinique's eyeshadows - the Colour Surge Collection is one of my hero products due to the intensity of the colours and incredibly blendable formulations - and I was over the moon when I read about the silvery lilacs of the Blackberry Frost collection, the golden pinks of Starlit Pink, dramatic deep golden browns of Like Mink and the full on glam purples and violets of the Beach Plum collection.
A great wee product that I've used on many a client is Quick Eyes Cream Shadow. I sampled the Starlit Pink, a soft baby pink that proved to be a fantastic base for the Colour Surge Eye Shadow in Like Mink. If you crave long lasting, beautiful colour then this is for you. £13.50
One of my close friends has worn Clinique make up for over 30 years so I knew she'd be perfect to test the new limited edition mascara, especially as it is based on the one she has been using for the last year. The Limited Edition High Impact Mascara in Brightening Black costs £14.50 and according to the blurb, makes the eyes appear 3 times brighter by creating the necessary contrast against the whites of the eyes. You're also meant to achieve a more youthful and vibrant look. But really....was it all just hype? My tester used her usual mascara on one eye, and Brightening Black on the other, and the plan was to ask friends if anyone noticed anything different about her. Before the question left her Juverderm-ed lips, her daughter asked her what she'd done to her eyes, as they were definitely more defined and brighter looking than usual. Now bearing in mind this mother and daughter combo have the same relationship as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in Baby Jane, it must have been one helluva good effect for anything remotely complimentary to pass the daughter's lips.
Clinique's Fall Collection available at Clinique counters nationwide from 1st August.
