It's true, I'm make up mad and when I'm not writing my weekly column in Scotland's best read Sunday newspaper The Sunday Mail or my Beauty Spot page at 5pm you can find me with brush in hand working on a blushing bride. www.craigalexanderwilson.co.uk and www.createthedream.co.uk www.5pm.co.uk

Smokey isn't always a drag.

A 'smoky eye' has to be the most asked for make up look by far and even when I do a 'one to one' tutorial my clients will without fail ask to be shown how to create this. I've seen more smoke in my 32 years than a chimney on fire but yet I still love to create this cult classic. There are lost of ways to achive this but from a consumers point of view, the simplest comes in the shape of one product- The Smoky Eye Effect Eyeshadow from Max Factor. Now usually I'd put this down as a gimmick but no, this actually works and the double ended crayon gives soft, blendable colour. Now normally I usually use powders or kohl liners to create a smouldering eye and I thought this creamy formula wouldn't perform. I truly stand corrected. All I would say is blend with a brush or your finger to avoid any hard edges. Be it cream or powder, the secret is to use colour not only above but below the lash lines. There are 6 shades in the line up. I like Purple Dust, perfect for this seasons colour trend and a great way to take you from office to party.
