Dear beauty blog buddies and fellow fragrance fanatics. Please let me apologise for the lack of posts over the last two weeks. Its been a bit of a mad month. As well as being on a couple of shoots, churning out copy for my column, on holiday in St Lucia, and preparing for a shoot this week which I'm styling as well as doing the hair and make-up for well it all left me a little frazzled. I'm sure you understand.
No excuses I hear you say and I suppose you're right. I should have dragged my tired eyes away from the captivating pages of Blow by Blow, the life story of fashion icon Isabella Blow. Even at least a skincare snippet to slake your thirst would have been better than nothing. Forgive me my darlings.
My apology comes in the shape of Apothecary . The colonial inspired emporium and department within a department in one of our favourites beauty halls. House of Fraser. This collection of niche brands is delivered to us in a stylish and traditional environment. The shop fit consists of exposed brick walls, medicine cabinets, vintage medicine bottles and of course obligatory in any beauty environment, a decadent crystal chandelier.
Jet lagged but ever faithful to you I dragged my exhausted behind into the Press Breakfast this morning that was being hosted by the store. My first port of call was for a coffee and salmon bagel to recharge and refuel before I immersed myself in releases, testers and general pr speak. It's a hard job you know. Noticing I was puffy the gorgeous girl from per-fekt sat me down and told me about this brand which recently came to the UK. This brand is massive in America and loved by many papped princess and A-lister including the Gossip Girl cast, Katy Perry, Victoria Beckham, Blake Lively and Hollywood hottie Reese Witherspoon to name a few. Wel if its good enough for Vicky and Reese, it's good enough for me. The Eye Perfection Gel is in my best LA accent 'like totally amazing'. This treatment and moisturiser in one instantly smoothed away the appearance of puffy eyes and even with my British Airways flatbed, my under eye luggage was more Louis than lightweight. With bags this size, baby I'm surprised I never ended up in the hold, never mind the overhead locker. Designed with a palladium tip it delivers and instant cooling sensation and definitely one for my next long haul. 3 weeks and counting. This comes in at £38.00
Feeling a little but looking a lot better I took a trip to the Trilogy corner where some fellow beauty writers were assembled and listening intensely. Their cult product had them all paused as they applied it to their skin. This Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is fast becoming a firm favourite not only with the beauty press but the consumer too. I had to try this award winning hero product. 100% natural, this ultra light oil absorbs just like a serum to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkle and scars. Being a bit of an oil fanatic myself and having tried them all from cleansing to treatment for face, body and hair I gave it a go. I'll admit here and now, it sinks in quicker than a lot and I've even brought one home with me. £28.00
As well as NV Perricone MD, ReVive and other well known and premium skincare brands there is also a host of hot bath and body products too. Names we know like Korres, Laura Mercier and Crabtree and Evelyn are broken up by newer niche ranches like The Gentry Grooming Co, Deborah Lippman and Mor. This latter brand being one I hadn't heard of before now. With stunning shelf appeal I was drawn straight to it, inspecting, smelling, touching and generally annoyed that I hadnt even came close or stumbled into this in the past.
If you like glamour, decadence and luxury then you will LOVE, LOVE ,LOVE, Mor. A dynamic collaboration between designers Dianna Burmas and Deon St Mor this brand is motivated by luxury. A design delight it has fast become an award winning global brand (eh........ still mad it's the first I've seen it) it also has impressive celebrity following. It's a fusion of old and contemporary ingredients blended cutting age science as well as being visually impressive that ticks all the boxes for me. The range includes hand wrapped triple milled soaps, sumptuous body butters and luxurious hand filled candles in tea cups and glass vessels all stamped with 24 carat gold insignia. Taking all this into account you would be surprised to find out that their Lip Nectar comes in at £16.00 and Emporium Black Collection Body Butter at £24.00.
...........and with that I leave you wanting Mor!
Night
Craig
